Trapped in an Auckland CBD hotel room for seven days of MIQ in 2021, I explore the fine art of "making the best of a difficult situation". The series is a continuation of my "Postcards from the Edge (of South Melbourne)" series which featured at the 2021 HeadOn Photo Festival in Sydney. Those who have been through MIQ will recognise some of these moments, where one desperately tries to hold on to a life which has been put on pause. I was influenced by Helmet Newtons work particularly his work of scantily clad women looking slightly compromised in hotel rooms.
We need your help to continue providing a year-round programme of online reviews, interviews, portfolios, videos and listings that is free for everyone to access. We’d also like to dream bigger with the services we offer to photographers and the visual arts.
We’ve partnered with Press Patron to give readers the opportunity to support PhotoForum Online.
Every donation helps.
