PhotoForum Publications
PhotoForum encourages photographers in Aotearoa to create photobooks exploring our country, people, myths and histories, looking back as a way to go forward. We are always on the lookout for contemporary photobooks to include in our renowned programme of publications. PhotoForum publishes two books each year, funded by annual membership fees. These books are made directly available to PhotoForum members as part of their membership and are also available for general sale.
The PhotoForum Publications Sub-committee oversees the selection and publication of these photobooks. Potential books are considered through various ways including: an annual open call, nominations by PhotoForum members and proposals for guest editorships. Unsolicited book proposals are considered during the period of the open call. Books can be at different stages of development, as we also aim to connect designers with photographers. We recognize the importance of providing a platform for publication to photographers who may not have access to more traditional forms of book publication.
We are guided by the following criteria:
· Do we love the book?
· Is the proposed project cohesive and relatively resolved in its scope?
· Is the project consistent with our vision to continue a strong legacy of significant photographic publications in Aotearoa?
We look forward to your photobook proposals.
