The PhotoForum Online website is a space for quality critical commentary about photography in Aotearoa and showcases the work of New Zealand photographers. We aim to cover a diverse range of voices and practices from around Aotearoa and have particular regard for under-recognised artists. Online costs are funded solely by intermittent grants and sponsorships, which we are grateful for.
But we need your help to continue providing a year-round programme of reviews, interviews, portfolios, videos and listings that is free for everyone. We’d also like to dream bigger with the services we offer to photographers and the visual arts, including more payments for artists and opportunities to foster new projects and exhibit them online.

What would my support donation go towards?
The support donations will help us provide a year-round online programme and cover payments to writers and artists plus the commissioning, editing and administrative work that keeps the PhotoForum Online website running.
If we receive more support we’d like to expand our services and offer more payments for artists and opportunities to foster new photographic projects and exhibit them online.
If I’m a member what does my subscription cover?
Donations for the online programme are separate to membership subscriptions.
PhotoForum membership subscriptions (currently $85.00 per annum) go towards the cost of the paper publications that members of PhotoForum receive each year and the administrative expenses of running PhotoForum Inc. The subscriptions don’t cover online costs. If you’re a member, you are welcome to support the online programme as well.
How are donations processed?
PhotoForum has partnered with Kiwi company Press Patron, a crowdfunding platform that makes it easy to support websites and blogs. The PressPatron team would love to hear your feedback, and can be contacted here.
Is my payment secure?
Yes. Payments made via PressPatron are securely processed using an SSL connection with 256-bit AES encryption. The underlying payment infrastructure is provided by Stripe, a leader in online payments who provides credit card processing for companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Xero, Kickstarter, and others. All credit card data is encrypted and Stripe maintains strict administrative, technical, and physical procedures to protect your information. More info about Stripe’s security policies can be viewed here. PressPatron does not collect or store your credit card number within their own database.
How can I manage my payment preferences?
Once you have contributed, you will be given the option of creating a PressPatron account to manage your payment preferences. Your supporter dashboard will provide you an overview of your contributions, as well as an interface for editing your payment details. If you already have an account, you can login here. If you choose a repeating donation, you can cancel at any time.
