Documenting the community of Avondale
Tim D.
Documenting the community of Avondale. Featuring 12 portraits of the community shot on 4x5 Sheet film during the month of June 2021.
The work can be viewed between 1953-1927 Great North Road, Avondale, Auckland during the month of July.
Part of a larger body of work in collaboration between Tom Scott & Tim D. documenting the community of Avondale.
Photographers Statement:
I feel strongly that this body of work we have created will be a large part of my legacy of photographs that will live on past my time on this earth.
With the sad state of the Auckland property market rapidly pricing out the community of people featured in these photos we have created pictures that will be looked upon in the same way we look back on old photos of Ponsonby, Freemans Bay, Grey Lynn in 20 years time.
What we are witnessing now is a shift from central suburb to city wide gentrification.
I would like to thank the community of Avondale for greeting me with open arms, Tom for trusting me with this project that is so dear to his heart & Dayne from the I love Avondale community development project for his work in the community and support of the arts.
Documented respectfully presented honestly with love.
Arohanui,
Tim D.
