Featuring photographs taken in Pukekohe during first COVID-19 lockdown in Aotearoa, this exhibition presents an opportunity to reflect on the year that has been. During lockdown local photographer, Denise Matene, turned her lens on the nationwide experience of being both together and apart; documenting a wide range of moments, from essential workers at work to supermarket queues, from teddy bears to the empty streets of Pukekohe. Showing during Matariki (the Māori new year), Matene’s images allow viewers to reflect on the strength and kindness experienced during lockdown and welcome a fresh beginning.
