The Kapiti Camera Club (based in Porirua) celebrates its 50th birthday on 24 February 2019. To mark its 50 year history, the club is holding an exhibition at Bottle Creek Gallery from 1 February to 10 March. On display is a range of work from present and past members, with almost 70 images reflecting the many interests, topics and passions of these enthusiastic, amateur photographers. Three TV monitors will play during each day,  one showing members’ digital images, another highlights of the club’s history, and the third a series of short videos from video special interest group members. Items of historical interest such as old cameras and other photographic artefacts will also be on display.

There will also be two early evening workshops/field trips in February that are free and open to the public. For details check the Home page of the Kapiti Camera Club website:

First Workshop, Titahi Bay: Thursday 7 February, 6.30pm – 8.30pm. Meet at the north end of Titahi Bay Beach, near Bay Drive, at the lookout above the toilets. We will be photographing the boatsheds with different perspectives against the hills, exploring the use of slow shutter speeds when photographing waves to create impressionist images, culminating in sunset shots from Terrace Road.

Second Workshop, Camborne Boatsheds / Hongoeka Bay:  Thursday 28 February, 6.30pm – 8.30pm. Meet at the beach at the eastern end of Pascoe Avenue, Mana, near Camborne Boatsheds. We will be photographing the boatsheds and their artefacts, and various landscapes of Pauatahanui Inlet, culminating in sunset shots from north of Plimmerton Boat Club. If the weather is wet, the workshop will be postponed to the following week: Thursday 7 March, same time and place. Check this web page for postponement or cancellation.
