Open call for photographic portfolios

Open call for featured photographic portfolios

Thanks to a generous grant from Creative New Zealand we’re planning a series of featured photographic portfolios, plus accompanying writing, on the PhotoForum website. We’re looking for well-developed projects with something to say in the contemporary context, and we want to feature a wide range of voices and practices. You need to be a citizen or permanent resident of Aotearoa/New Zealand or a New Zealander living overseas.

The work selected will be showcased on our website accompanied by writing that responds to the images. We pay the writer and a fee to the photographer to cover the work involved in preparing the images. We can commission a writer you nominate or we can commission someone suitable from our stable of writers.

Please send us your proposal. Email us, following the instructions below, and get your work in before 5 June 2020. Selections will be made in the week starting 8 June. The selectors are Geoff Short, Director PhotoForum, Mary Macpherson, PhotoForum Reviews Editor and Talia Smith, artist, curator and writer.

If you know anyone else who’d be interested please share this information!
