Sara McIntyre The Tea Cup Gallery, 2015

The Shrine Next Door includes five previously unshown photographs from Sara McIntyre’s forthcoming book, Observations of a Rural Nurse, including this work, The Tea Cup Gallery, 2015. Sara writes, “I frequently returned to the Tea Cup Gallery in Manunui. The owner, Theona, was constantly rearranging the shelves. It was a shop but Theona was reluctant to part with her treasured collection.” Sara’s book, published by Massey University Press and designed by Sarah Gladwell will be launched in May 2020 with an exhibition of Sara’s photographs at the Sarjeant Art Gallery Te Whare o Rehua Whanganui.
