Powhiri and Celebration 11am Friday 24 November at Te Noho Kotahitanga Marae, Unitec

For the last year I have been working on portraits and life histories of our Kaumātua which started in Owairaka (Mt.Albert), Tamaki Auckland with the initial support from Albert-Eden community Arts. It is now on its way to encompassing kaumātua across Aoteraoa.

It will be a two-three year kaupapa that records and preserves the kōrero whaiaro and mātauranga of our kaumātua from across Aotearoa.

Community engagement is essential to this kaupapa and will be celebrated every step of the way. If you’re in Tamaki come join in as celebrate with our very first four kaumātua- from Owairaka - and bless the kaupapa for all of those to follow at Te Noho Kotahitanga Marae, Ōwairaka Mount Albert with kōrero, poetry, waitata…

Its been an incredibly moving and powerful kaupapa and I am excited to share it with you all…

(Ignore RSVP date-just flick a DM if you’d like to join us)

Special thanks to @shonadey and #Albert-Eden Neighbourhood Arts. @theblackandwhitebox for supporting our beautiful prints @theprintguysnz for a special booklet to be launched @waimanuka.nz and their tasty drinks for our blessing @kingsizestudios for the trusty 5x4 @ollie.orme for the beautifully executed design of all collateral
