Webb’s is pleased to present the late Gregory Spooner’s personal collection. Spooner was an avid collector of photography and works on paper. He assembled this wide-ranging selection of art while he was in his twenties and thirties from both New Zealand and abroad.
The Gregory Spooner Collection shows the discerning tastes of a young collector with a distinctive eye. Classic imagery by Gil Hanly, Leo Bensemann, and Theo Schoon are included alongside photographs, prints and paintings by a diverse range of artists.
Spooner had a knack for identifying and collecting quality works before they were met with greater market interest. In this he demonstrated a viable path for emerging collectors to accumulate quality art work, and we are honoured to offer this collection.
