Image Auckland is proud to present this vibrant outdoor showcase of music themed photography, all of which is the work of Auckland based photographer, Chris Traill.

Chris has a career spanning four decades. There may be no other photographer in Aotearoa who has covered as many different live music events. His archive includes images from Rock Concerts, Big Day Outs, Rockquests, Parachute Festivals, Hip Hop Summits, Polyfests, Pasifika Festivals, Kapahaka Festivals, International Cultural Festivals, Diwalis, Womads, Raggamuffins etc...the list goes on.

Chris' passion started as a teenager in the late 70's with coverage of the very first NZ music festivals, Nambassa and Sweetwaters. His journey as a professional photographer soon took shape and his work has featured in a wide array of magazines and other publications over 40 years, navigating the transition from film to digital photography along the way. Chris holds a Master with Distinction honour with The New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography (NZIPP).

Image Auckland is delighted to present some of the best images from Chris’s colourful career. He hopes to provide some nostalgic memories of the large crowd events that we all have missed so much in these post- Covid times.

Presented on a large billboard at Silo 6.
