FOTOFEST, the annual photography festival event for Hawke's Bay is back from September 15th - 25th 2023.
With more than 20 exhibitions from local and photographers from around the country shown throughout the CBD using vacant spaces, retail windows and laneways, the 10 day event is for those passionate for photography, locals and visitors to the Bay.
FOTOFEST isn't about one venue or location and brings works out of gallery spaces into the CBD in creative ways, including outdoor installations showing a range of different works.
A number of talks are planned over the weekend, as well as tours to a private camera collection with one of the largest Leia collections in the world, macro photographer Chris Halliwell, plus a day workshop printing and framing workshop with Chris and Rachael Smith,both NZIPP Accredited Professional Photographers and Ilford Certified Printers. Their collective printing experience spans over 30 years, as just a few in the programme line up.
A special gallery space is also being curated by local Richard Brimer to showcase a collection of private and leading New Zealand Photographers work in one venue and the Sony 2023 Alpha Award Finalists and winner will be exhibited digitally, thanks to Sony NZ.
The event is supported by Hastings District Council through their city activation and event fund and is in its second year.
