Murray Cammick

Franklin Arts Centre

12 Massey Avenue, Pukekohe

21 March to 9 May 2020. Extended to at least 08 August

Opening Saturday, 21 March, 10:30 AM – 12 PM

Postponed due to COVID 19 response, all NZ art galleries closed.

The Flash Cars exhibition brings a wide selection of Murray Cammick’s iconic black and white photographs to Pukekohe, one of the homes of Auckland’s V8 Culture. Cammick was 20 years old when he started photographing the nightlife and the V8 scene in Queen St central Auckland. He spent the nights of the weekends from 1974 – 1981 capturing a vast number of images of the people, the revelry, the camaraderie and a range of highly desirable cars.

The pocket sized original archival prints which were gifted to the people Cammick photographed will be exhibited for the first time, alongside a selection of prints and a range of ephemera from Cammick’s collection
