Curfew Yellow
Curfew Yellow is a photographic meditation on identity and conflict in India’s Northern region, Jammu & Kashmir.
The area is marred by violent protest, restricted cellular and internet communications, frequent curfews, militancy, and oppression at the hands of the Indian government.
Joe Dowling (b.1987) is from Auckland, New Zealand. He has a background in commercial photography and is the co-founder of Paper Pirates photography exhibitions.
In 2014, Dowling left commercial photography to explore documentary work in the Middle East. He lived in the region for over a year working on a project as the freshly-ignited civil wars ensued around him. After leaving Iraq, he moved to Amsterdam where he worked as a gallery technician at Foam Photography Museum.
